Mysteries of the Heart formed to play improvised, devotional music in
late night performances with the intention of healing listeners with
harmonious acoustic vibrations. The music performed by the quartet on
this recording is inspired by meditation, prayer, poetry, spirituals,
and the different frequencies of vibration present in the elements and
natural states of matter we observe. It is impossible to overstate
the importance of vibrations and their power. Words, energy,
temperature, light, sound, and even matter itself, all of these things
are, in essence, vibration. How can anyone doubt the power all these
vibrations have to effect the state of our health? And of course,
music is simply the formless art of vibrations, the reflection of the
Lord, so Mysteries of the Heart sincerely hope our music will be a
healing force upon you. To prepare for recording the improvisations
passages were read from "The Mysticism of Sound and Music" by Hazrat
Inayat Khan and from William Parker's "Scrapbook". Only acoustic
instruments with no overdubs are featured on this recording so as to
minimize the variables involved with making improvised music that is
specifically intended to heal listeners.
